Mira is so excited to share her new bedroom with you!! There are still some projects left for the bedroom, including some new throw pillows for the bed. But, we wanted to go ahead and share her room. Decorating for tweens or teens can be challenging — they are no longer little girls and their rooms should reflect that.
When we decided to move, Mira started planning her bedroom; and I looked online for Tween Bedroom Decorating Ideas. Her old bedroom was pink and it included two twin beds. We decided to move a queen size bed from our old guest bedroom and give the twin beds to her brother. She also decided that she had outgrown the pink bedroom and wanted a little more grown up color palette. One good tip for decorating a tween’s bedroom is to choose a color palette that will work as they grow up. Mira chose to go with turquoise and canary yellow with hints of silver and pink. Another way we updated her room was by painting some of her furniture and adding new hardware. Painting furniture is a great way to update furniture for a more modern look.
For the room, Mira also wanted to have an accent wall behind the bed that would be the focus of the room. She thought about painting a chevron pattern on the wall, but I was afraid that it would be a look she wouldn’t like after a couple of years. Instead, we went with star shaped decals that mimic Coronata Wallpaper. Wall decals are an inexpensive, non-permanent way to add style to tween’s bedroom. For the wall behind the couch, Mira chose to do a small gallery wall. She displayed some paintings she did, pictures, and her favorite quotes. A gallery wall is a great way for tweens/teens to express their own personal style. She loves her room and overall, it is truly a reflection everything she loves.
